HCM 220 Health Care Quality Management
Focuses on how to operate and manage a health care organization with the specific purpose of improving the operational efficiencies and the quality of patient care. Students become familiar with the intricacies of managing different types of health care organizations. The course evaluates how management techniques impact the quality of patient care, the role of governance, and the key issues in managing support services. The course also will examine quality management, in both private practices and hospital settings; organization relationships; materials management and supplies; facilities planning; and human resource management, including collective bargaining and relationships among patients, physicians, and other health care employees.
