Orientation
The university provides new undergraduate and graduate students with New Student Orientation Orientation (NSO) and welcome week programming to academically prepare them for their Marymount experience. All incoming undergraduate students are required to attend NSO prior to beginning coursework at the university. For graduate students, each school offers a program-specific orientation, which is mandatory for some programs, to acquaint students with their program of study. Graduate Orientation and welcome also offers workshops, fairs, and social events.
More information about Marymount New Student Orientation and Graduate Orientation can be found by contacting the Office of Admissions or Graduate Enrollment Services. More information is also available on university website website.
International Student Orientation
International students bring their own unique needs to Marymount. To address these needs, the university provides a mandatory International Student Orientation (ISO) for students studying in F-1 or J-1 visa status that takes place the week before classes start.
At ISO, students will learn about maintaining their F-1 visa status, U.S. immigration regulations, the American educational system, academic program planning, adjusting to Marymount University, and American culture. Students will also complete mandatory Immigration Check-In to activate their SEVIS immigration record. Additionally, this is a great opportunity to meet other students and make new friends.
ISO is held separately and is distinct from major-specific, new graduate student orientation, which students must also attend. For more information about pre-arrival and orientation, visit the International Student and Scholar Services website, email isss@marymount.edu, or call (703) 526-6922.
