AH 204 History of Modern Art

An examination of different movements in art beginning around 1900 in Europe and North America as they react or contribute to historical developments of the century, including politics, nationalism and war; shifting social structures and practices; and radical changes in media and technology. Special emphasis will be given to works of art from local and regional museums, with field trips to area collections. A minimum grade of C is needed for this class to fulfill any major requirement in the School of Design and Art. Prerequisite: EN 102. Liberal Arts Core Designation: Fine and Performing Arts (FPA), Depth in Humanities (DHUM). (3)
