IT 532 Privacy Design in the Technology Ecosystem

In this course students will learn how to evaluate new technologies and systems in terms of securing personal and corporate private information.  Students will learn privacy risks models and how to identify privacy risks to technology systems based upon compliance, security, and data integrity safeguards.  The course will examine the data life cycle and discuss the roles IT, privacy and compliance professionals play in both securing and maintaining privacy in the IT ecosystem. Students will discuss security technical measures such as de-identification, encryption, access management and authentication in terms of their effectiveness in protecting privacy.  Students will apply privacy taxonomies and security techniques to evaluate privacy risks and threats.  Students will learn and analyze methodologies to engineer privacy into technology designs. Students must achieve a minimum grade of B-. (3)
