TRS 310 Religion, Violence, and Peace
In this religious studies course, students will investigate the relationships between religion and violence and religion and peacebuilding. How are violence and peace justified by religions? How have individuals and groups promoted violence or peace using religion? Have religious teachings been distorted to promote violence? Can religions be a resource for peacebuilding today? We will explore these and other questions through case studies of historical and contemporary conflicts and consider how we can contribute to a more peaceful world. Prerequisites: TRS 100 and EN 102. Liberal Arts Core Designation: Theology (TRS), Depth in Faith and Reason (DF&R). (3)
