COMM 101 Public Speaking

Students gain knowledge of principles and theories of oral communication regarding the design, creation, and delivery of several types of speeches; analysis of the audience and public speaking situation; and experiential practice in the art of public speaking (oratory) and the aesthetic elements of performance and effective delivery. This course emphasizes the expressive aspects of speech, including voice modulation, body language, and visual composition, to enhance audience engagement and impact. Communication majors must earn a grade of C- or higher. Liberal Arts Core designation: Fine and Performing Arts (FPA). (3)
