IT 323 Junior IT Seminar

This course refines the career development activities developed earlier, including resume, LinkedIn profile and their recommendation letters. The course focuses on the need for experiential learning in the technology field while in college, including internships, research, hands-on lab experiences and competitions. Students also work on their soft skills including presentations, teamwork, and communication skills, including practice with the many types of technical and behavioral interviewing. Sample activities include research on emerging technology topics, finding and evaluating internship and job postings, interaction at networking events, comprehending the application process for summer research projects and internships, preparation for industry certification, the application of information literacy skills, and the identification of scholarship opportunities. This course prepares students for the for-credit internship in their senior year. Students will plan and give at least one significant group presentation supported by research. Students must achieve a minimum grade of C. (1)
