This clinical course offers a unique opportunity for students to engage in service-learning experiences with adults with acquired or degenerative impairments through integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application in medical speech-language pathology. Through supervised, hands-on experiences in healthcare settings, students can apply culturally relevant assessment and intervention strategies learned in the classroom (in concurrent academic course) to real-life situations. The course will focus on rehabilitation of communication, swallowing, speech, and language skills emphasizing culturally responsive and person-centered care. Students will also learn about the role of the speech-language pathologist in healthcare settings and how these settings impact the individual. Students must achieve a minimum grade of B. Prerequisites: SLP 610, SLP 611, SLP 612, SLP 620, SLP 621, and SLP 622. Recommended Prerequisite/Corequisite: SLP 630. (2)
